Lovely Thimble Container and beautiful stitching

Donna from Wednesday stitching keeps her antique thimble in the loveliest container. Here it is and the picture below is it open showing the thimble. We put it on my favourite needle case made from a design by Lynette Anderson.

This lovely Christmas stitchery is Audrey's. We are all in awe of her beautiful satin stitches!

Wednesday stitching girls

Here are some more lovely works in progress by the Wednesday stitching ladies. This is Penny's lovely quilt for a little friend of hers. He will love counting those sheep.

This is Helen's bag. She has made both the front and the back. It is looking great.
This is the back of Maxine's lovely bag.
Nada came to our class last week to work on the starry quilt but also shared this lovely quilt she is working on with us.

Weekend in Sydney

Had a lovely weekend in Sydney with Fiona and Ros and many other women. We had a great time at the Colour Conference and also enjoyed a little shopping and some wonderful meals. Here are a few pictures of Darling Harbour.

This one is the view from our apartment.

More beautiful stitching by the Wednesday girls

This is some lovely redwork stitched by Gail.
Angela loves Japanese patchwork and fabrics and is working on some sashiko. I hope I have spelt it correctly.
Isn't this runner beautiful? Colleen has been working on this for a while and it has turned out so well.
Isn't the stitching lovely?

Wednesday morning stitching

Yesterday the girls at social stitching were working on some lovely things. It is a good chance to see what everyone is making and can be very motivating. Marilyn recently discovered the Noah's Ark BOM by Lynette Anderson and here are the giraffes and Noah and the cows.

Katrina is doing a great job of this lovely native wildflowers embroidery designed by Fiona at Peaceful Threads. There are so many flowers in the borders!
Gail is working on one of Anni Downes stitcheries. It is from the Simple Pleasures book.

The Bouquets

Since I am blogging flowers, this is a closeup of one of the bouquets. Gorgeous colour.

Beautiful Flowers

Here is a picture of one of the lovely floral arrangements that Marlene, from church, arranged for Amy and Gavin's wedding. They were really lovely arrangements. I think people who can arrange flowers like this are so clever. I can embroider them but not arrange them!

Last BOM block

I went away on the weekend with my Bible study group and we had a wonderful time at the coast. I even went for a swim in the ocean which is amazing for me as the water was rather chilly. I really enjoyed it! Those who know me know that I don't venture into the water unless it is very hot and the water is warm and then I still hesitate! We enjoyed great food and lots of relaxing chat and laughter. We even had a go at ABBA singstar which was hilarious. Luckily, or sadly, I had forgotten my camera so there are no pictures!
I did get a chance to do a little stitching and managed to finish stitching the FINAL block of the "My Home or yours" BOM that I have been working on for ages. I just need to do the patchwork around this block and 2 more of the nine patch and applique blocks and I will be ready to put it together. How exciting!

Lovely baby gift

On Wednesday night at class, Margaret and Danielle showed us the beautiful gift they have made for a baby shower they are going to. They have made the bag and the lovely little nappy holder and added some other useful bits and pieces. They all match too and the fabrics they have chosen are so beautiful! The bibs and singlets are even embroidered. I think the new mum will be thrilled.

Wednesday afternoon

Here is Jenny with her almost completed Starry quilt. Sorry it is blurry, but doesn't it look great.
Laureen is working on her bag this week and has completed the patchwork for the back of the bag. Lovely colours.
Blurry again but they were very delicious! Thanks for sharing, Laureen.
Helen has finished the embroidery for the front of the bag. The colours are looking really good.

The Wedding Quilt

Here is a picture of the quilt I made for Amy and Gavin for their wedding. They wanted a quilt to use on the lounge rather than just something decorative (which is what I tend to make!) and in blues and browns. I wasn't sure if they would like it but they did. I wanted to add some red but restrained myself. I used a pattern from a book called "Successful Scrap Quilts" by Margaret Rolfe and Judy Turner. Has some great scrap quilts in it using rectangles.
I was able to embroider on the label. Here it is. I used one of the blocks from Lynette Anderson's BOM My Home or yours, that I am working on. I change the bride's dress so it looked more like Amy's and took the top hat off the groom.
After hunting everywhere unsuccessfully for the perfect card, I ended up stitching one.

An amazing photo

Just found this amazing photo of Amy and Gavin on Kelly Tunney 's blog. She was the professional photographer at the wedding. It is a reflection of the kids in a puddle and turned upside down. Can't wait to see the rest of the pictures. She is going to put more up later on. It looks better if you click on it as it is a bit cropped here.

The Wedding

Couldn't wait to blog a few photos from Amy and Gavin's wedding on Saturday. These are just a few of mine so not fantastic but nice to put a few up. Amy looked wonderful, though I am biased, and so did Gavin. All went well even though we had to dodge the rain several times after the service. Luckily it didn't rain at the start as she came in Dad's MX5. They did have the roof up for most of the trip and took it down at the end for effect.
The service was lovely though my photos weren't so will show some later on. Here they are with Ma and Pa, Amy's grandparents.
This is the wonderful cake that Amy's friend, Casey made for them. Not only did it look spectacular but it was delicious.
This is at the Lobby before dinner. The light was really lovely outside after the rain. Can't wait to see the professional photos.

Two completed blocks

I am a bit busy today as my daughter, Amy, and Gavin are getting married tomorrow! The preparations have gone on for such a long time that it is amazing to think that the time is almost here. I have been baking today and need to do a final tidy and vaccuum and then I think I will be ready. I really needed to try my slice to check if it tasted OK and have a coffee so I thought I would share two blocks that I have completed recently. They are from the "My Home or Yours" BOM  and this is the barn block, which is the 11th one that I have completed. Only one to go. It is a BOM designed by Lynette Anderson and the block under the barn is the block that goes between the house blocks. It is such a lovely quilt.

I have also completed the wedding quilt, label and a card for the kids but can't share those till after the day.

Starry quilts

At the class last week, there was some good progress made on the starry quilts. Here is a row of Helen's stars.
Look at these lovely 2 1/2" squares of fabric ready to be sewn.
This is Margaret's first strip of her quilt.

Finished class projects

Jenny from the Wednesday afternoon class has finished her evening bag. Hasn't it turned out well?
Margaret finished her little house pin cushion.

Margaret also finished her evening bag though the photo is a little blurry.  It has turned out really well.
