Powis Castle and on to Windermere

On Saturday, 29th April, we headed to the Lake District after a sad farewell. We had such a lovely week in Hay and will miss Penny and John. Thank you to both of them for their wonderful hospitality. We were travelling quite a long way so broke the journey at Powis Castle and Garden. Once again it was a very interesting house to visit.

We stayed in an apartment in Windermere for the week. The apartment is right in town so very convenient for meals and it has a lovely Booths shop for our groceries. On Sunday we had a quiet day without any driving. We walked up to Orrest Head to look at the view of the lake at Windermere. Great views but it was a bit hazy and very windy and cool.
